Beauty

Have you ever come across the unfamiliar and your curiousity was at its peak? It happens to me often but, this time, I took the plunge and decided it was worth 99p. Just look at it, it's a BEAUTY.

I came across this unfamilair fruit, known as a Dragon Fruit, and I just had to try it. Didn't have a clue what I was buying but it was worth knowing more about. When we arrived back home, I took a quick browse online and started some research. I came across someone else's very well thought out description of it, and she really wrote a fabulous entry on this fruit. I invite you to read more about it, HERE. She explains it perfectly and I don't think I can describe it in any further detail or any better. Now when you're done reading about the fruit, be sure to come back to me!

I couldn't wait to find out what fruit I had, will it be red or white? I desired one with a white filling, mainly because I thought it would look good in the photos, of course. There are several varieties and mine happens to be known as, Hylocereus undatus. Yeah! It had a white filling! BEAUTIFUL.

How to eat a Dragon Fruit.

Cut fruit in half. Simply scoop out inside with spoon or cut it around the edges with a sharp knife, carefully cutting it from underneath. Slice it into chunks. Best served chilled. Dig in with a fork, spoon, or fingers.

Our Opinion of this Fruit: (Had to share it with BU.)
Pixie: "Reminds me of Kiwi Fruit."
Bu: "It's kind of like Prickly Pear."
Pixie: "Oh, no, not at all." (I happen not to like prickly pears!)
Bu: "We'll definately buy this again."
Pixie: Nods head in agreement.

As you may have guessed, we loved it. It was subtly sweet and we found it to be very refreshing.
