So, where to begin this entry? Let's see. How do you all do it? Yes, that's my question of the day. I have over a hundred blogs now on my reader; of course, I don't stop by and read every single one of them (except yours-you know, who you are) but quickly browse for inspiration or simply to drool over chocolate desserts, cookies, and basically anything not very good for me. I couldn't possibly comment on them all but my foodie friend's blogs. Those, yes, I read. Finally, trying to create little folders and shove all of you in there and notice I have yet to read about 30+ entries! Yowzers. I've been trying my very best to blog less, giving myself time to go 'blog hopping' and I'm not really supposed to write an entry till Monday- I promised myself I wouldn't. You can see I'm not very good at keeping promises.
I wanted to let you all know that I appreciate all of your comments. I read every single one-take in your advice and thoughts and they truly make my day. Thanks for taking the time to stop by and thanks to those of you who are able to find some time to read through an entire entry and not skip over the words. It's not easy I know; I'm sometimes guilty of skipping the writing part myself- but I do try my best.
ANYHOW_ MADONNA IS COMING OVER
Guess what? We're going to 'see' or likely 'hear' Madonna. We were fortunate enough to win a couple of tickets to see her at Mote Park in Maidstone on May 10. Truth is, I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this. It's cool, sort of, I guess. I feel old, you know. Like, I don't really like standing all day long or having to worry about using the loo. Any chance she'll sing songs from the 80's? I mean I miss songs like, Who's that girl?, Get into the Groove, and Lucky Star. I'll even settle for Like a Virgin. Yet, we're still going because there's just that part of you that says inside, it's 'MADONNA' and it's 'FREE'. Also, there are other great acts that I'd love to hear, if you're interested in knowing who, you can read all about it here. k, yea it's sinking in a bit- it's cool, I'm old and cranky, I'll try my best to enjoy it. ;)
Somebody thinks I'm Yummy ;)
Thank you Sugar Craft India. If you have yet to visit Sugar Craft and have a love for baking, I'm certain you will enjoy her work of art. Thanks, so much, it was really kind of you to think of me. I'm meant to pass it on to four other blogs that I find yummy. Now what blog wouldn't I find yummy? I adore all of your blogs! I wanted to select blogs, I've yet to mention. We all work very hard to maintain our food blogs. It can be exhausting at times and anyone, who has a food blog, knows just how much time and effort is put into keeping it going.
Therefore, I'm listing four blogs I've yet to mention, AT ALL, on my blog. As always, hope you'll be able to find some time to say hello to each other.
Baking Project- Min; This is a food blog I found through the lovely Marye; if you're interested in sugarcrafting and baking this is a wonderful blog to add to your reader.
Made Healthier
Lori has a wonderful blog filled with very healthy and delicious recipes. She even made a yummy looking and healthier version of tiramasu!
My Life as Chef Eric- Looking for more healthy delicious recipes to add on to your diet. Look no further. Eric is the man for you.
Laws of the Kitchen-Cakelaw
What's there not to love about Cakelaw? She's been one of my first visitors to leave such kind comments (and not disappear) and the girl certainly knows how to bake.
I'm also supposed to share with you some of my favourite 'yummy' desserts. Keep in mind, I haven't started learning how to bake since starting this blog about 6 months ago (or is it more?) eeeks. Anyhow, my favourite dessert without a doubt, is apple pie. I also loved this bread and butter pudding (gosh was that heavenly!) and the DB challenge, Lemon Meringue. YUM YUM YUMMY! and I almost forgot the cannolis- I try not to remember because they're just sinfully THAT good.
Once again, to me these little tags and awards are a way of getting us to 'mingle'. So, I hope you are able to find some time to do just that. ;) Totally up to you if you want to carry on or not.
...and another award from the lovely Ivy, at Kopiaste. Ivy, is such a fantastic cook. You're sure to love her dishes, if you've yet to visit her blog; I hope you'll find some time today or tomorrow or this week to do so. Promise me that. ;)
Here's how it works:
You select 5 blogs that you feel excel in creativity, design, interesting material, and also contribute to the blogging community, no matter what language.
Gosh! wow, she's a biggie eh. ;) Let's see again, I'm passing awards to food bloggers who have yet to be mention AT ALL on my blog. Here are five bloggers I'm passing this on to:Cherrapeno- Wonderfully delicious bakes, stop by for a good drool. YUM.
Baking Delights
Marye has been very kind and helpful to me and if you love to bake you'll certainly enjoy her blog.
The Sugar Bar
Diva has recently been added to my reader and if you've yet to visit, I assure you, you won't be disappointed. (Just don't forget me entirely once you do ;) )
Kitchen Delights- Margaret- Another great site for excellent bakes. Yes, you see, I love browsing and reading through blogs with desserts on them. I'm guilty!
The Recipe Girl Fabulous recipes, wonderful cook; The Girl Does it All- I think she'll give me some pointers on how to juggle it all!
FINALLY- If you were kind enough to continue reading this entry today; you'll likely appreciate or find this entry interesting on Food Blogging by The Amateur Gourmet. If any of my readers, who don't have a food blog would like to start one, this entry may (or may not) interest you. It's also well worth a read if you do have one.
*PHEW* Sorry for the OVERLOAD but I Needed to all get it out in ONE ENTRY! See you back on Monday. Enjoy the rest of the weekend and hope to do some serious 'blog hopping' later today or tomorrow.

pixie, thanks for my award! that's cool. also, apple pie and bread & butter puds are also one of my favourite desserts. but if u really wanted to ask wat my favourite was, i don't think i could ever answer that. i'll take a year or more deliberating on that. but i'll never be able to make up my mind just cause there's so much good stuff out there! sigh. can't wait to see you posting on the new baking blog too. i'm sure it's gonna b wicked. x
Interesting post Pixie...there is a lot involved in food blogging...thank god I only do it sporadically...well sort of! Have fun at Madge's concert!
Pixie! Thank you so much! :)
Iy does help to be a speed reader, doesn't it?
congrats for of all for your awards really deserved! And i think i can add myself to those who always find enough time to read every single word you write cause you are such a pleasure reading darling. And i'm learning a lot from you also in term of vocabulary and grammar as well (I'm ot so good in english you see :-))
I write too hundreds of words in each entry and just hope that someone will read them but basically I write them to push out every single feeling I have inside and that is so much relief for me at the end of the day!
I'll keep goind on reading your amazing entries every time they'll appear on my reades!
have a good day
Silvia
p.s. The real madonna I remeber is the one of "Starlight" and "holiday" or " true blue" I think I miss those days a little bit too much :-) anyway I'm still a huge fan of George michael and i'll continue forever :-P
Silvia
What a lovely posting Pixie and I am flattered that you like drooling over my desserts (I've always been a cake and pudding sort of person).
You are so lucky to win tickets to see Madonna and the other acts. I hope the concert is brilliant and that the acts aren't so far away they look like 'ants'!!
Hi Pixie - obviously I meant to say a huge THANKYOU! Mx
Thanks for introducing us to some new blogs, Pix :)
girl, i hear ya! when i miss a day or two of blog reading, i'm welcomed back to 500+ new posts! it's ridiculous! i, like you, persevere and i'm still able to comment on my favorites (you know who you are). :)
here's hoping justin timberlake makes a guest appearance at madonna's show! :):)
Pixie, many thanks for the mention here and the award. So very sweet of you. Thank you and I will try to check out all the other blogs. Yes it is good to mingle, you can always learn new things and make more friends along the way. Thanks Pixie !
I am so glad that Ivy was able to give you the award, you were on my list as well always so well deserved!!!I promised myself to blog every second day, but I am not good at keeping promises either.Keep up all the delicious and interesting posts whether you blog once a week or every day:D
Oh yes and you should definitely see Madonna. She is an icon even if you are not totally a fan. To be there with all her admirers and in concert mode will be reward enough:D
That's kind of how my last entry was too - a bit of catch up. I think I'm probably worse with my food blogs in my reader. I have close to 200 posts to catch up on and they just keep coming! I'm trying to be very fussy about which blogs stay in my reader, but they're all so good!
Congrats on your awards! You deserve them, Pixie. :)
Madonna, huh? I'd go if I won tickets, for sure. I doubt she'll do any 80's stuff--I wish she would, though! Have fun!
Blogging--hmmm. I try to post every 3 days, but it's not always possible. Sometimes i have free time and extra food pics ready to go, so it's less then 3 days apart. I have lots of blogs in my reader and I'll read a few every so often during the day. In the evening when we finally sit down to relax, I'll bring my laptop and catch up on commenting and on Tastespotting.
Have a nice weekend, Pixie!
I know exactly what you mean; if I keep up to date on comments I forget to post, and if I post regularly I don't have time to comment everyone. Siigh.
Congratulations on the awards!
xxx
Even IF Madonna doesn't do any of her older stuff, you gotta admit that she's a) an incredible icon and b) like who at her age is in the kind of shape she's in - she makes me totally crazy. And, she loves the controversy so you're guaranteed to get some shock value - enjoy the concert!!! Just...don't become "a material girl".
Wow Pixie, I read all your post, did not skip a line (except that link you posted to see who are together with MADONNA). Lucky girl, I'm not really a fan of Madonna but if I won some tickets I wouldn't miss it.
You are right it's so difficult to catch up and visit all the blogs, read all the e-mails and post (I even have to translate for my Greek blog) Wow. I think twice a week is a good solution.
Congratulations to all the winners of your awards. I shall do my best to visit all of them.
Hi Pixie,
Thanks so much for the Yummy Blog Award! That was so nice of you. :)
Thanks for the recommendations/introductions. Always great to learn about new people! As for how do you have time to do it all...well...(duh) you don't. And frankly, I'm less happy when I try: when I feel like I Have to rush through and visit all the blogs on my reader list and end up not taking the time to really enjoy the posts that my friends have taken a lot of time and energy over. But if you find some magic way to make it work (an extra couple hours in the day...?), do pass on the secret!
Lots of great information - and very generous - thanks! I know exactly what you mean about struggling to keep up with other blogs - so much good stuff out there and so little time!
Enjoy Madonna - you probably feel old now but when she is still performing in 20 years time you will feel like you were lucky to see her before she started losing her teeth and her hair :-)
Oh my gosh you are so sweet. Thank you so much for the award! I've been off doing my weekend thing today and just happened to pop into your blog first on my blog rounds :) What a great honor to receive an award from you!
And I was thinking of myself so much that I completely forgot to congratulate you for the awards you received. Wonderful... well deserved!!
Pixie, congrats on your awards! You deserve them! I never skip a word in your posts - they are always filled with great stories and yummy yums!:) Oh, Madonna concert sounds great! Have fun and say hello to her if you get a chance to chat with her:))
Thanks Pixie - I got such a nice surprise when I popped in to your blog and saw you mention me! I have been a bad blogger this week because life has been going at an insane pace, but when people like you do such lovely things like this, I am reminded why I love blogging and keep it going. Thanks so much!!!
PS I got so excited that I forgot to mention congrats on getting the Madonna tickets! I have Madonna in my CD player at the moment, and I love her older music. Rain, Cherish and Crazy for You are my favourites ('cause I am a hopeless romantic). Enjoy the concert!
Don't feel about about commenting, I am in the same boat! Congratulations on all the awards, well deserved and great choice of logs to pass them on! Re-Madonna: I think people are just jealous of her success. I love that she's got balls to do the heck she wants.
Congrats on your award Pixie!! You are such a sweetheart and we all love you, your blog and just everything about Pixie!
You are right, maintaining a food blog is alot of work, but the rewards of new friendships makes it all worthwhile!
Have fun at Madionna. It gets hard to keep up with all those great blogs out there. You want to be supportive,,but sometimes you need a time out. Your amazing.
Congratulations for the award! You have a very nice blog and interesting posts to read.
I fully sympathize about the overwhelmed RSS reader...I've also fallen woefully behind on responding to comments on my own blog. I do read a lot more than I write about, but with work and the home life becoming busier, its definitely become a lot more of a challenge. I've just tried to have something of a routine, which means maybe twice a week of good quality food blog time. *shrugs*
Man, I loved Madonna when I was a girl. She's still fabulous, too - testament to clean livin', I guess.
Gratz on your much-deserved award!
Wow, thanks so much Pixie! I'm honoured that you chose my blog and will pass it on shortly.
I'm sure you will have a great time at the concert - will look forward to reading all about it.
Thanks Pixie, I had no idea you were going to put up my link. That's one of the nicest things that has happened to me in my blogging months. I've already had 5 visitors come to my site from yours. Once again thank you very much.
you are a very sweet girl and a great food blogger! i still will never forget that you have been so generous helping me (and others i'm sure) to gather more of an audience. and you know what, i'd go see madonna even if it wasn't free! i want to that 50 year old body can do on stage!
Pixie, I so know what you mean. I wish I had more time to spend visiting all those lovely blogs out there too! And I am so jealous you are going to see Madonna!! Have Fun!
Congratulations on the awards!
You are absolutely right about trying to keep up with so many blogs. I think it is really important to remember that most of us write food blogs for fun - the moment it stops becoming fun and feels like a chore is perhaps the moment to take a little break and remind ourselves that it is ok to do that!
Enjoy the Madonna concert - I'm sure it will be fantastic.
Pixie, Since I've been blogging my time on the computer has increased 100%, I have to push myself away sometimes to get other things done! I'm trying to balance all of this a little better now. After all, blogging is a hobby and not a job, right? But I have to admit, I've been loving every minute of it!! :) Congrats on your awards!
YAY to you for the award...you deserve it. Also good for you...go see Madonna; hope she sings the 80's numbers. It's always nice to hear from songs from 'our generation'...BTW...does PESTO qualify for putting up? Was wondering.................
